Editorial and Review Policy

How Ogovy content is researched, written, reviewed, corrected and kept current, and the rules we hold ourselves to when writing about prescription treatments and the pharmacies that supply them.

Who writes Ogovy

Nick Johnson, Independent Prescription Pricing Analyst at Medstack Ltd, writes and maintains Ogovy. His background is pharmacy pricing, data architecture and consumer protection: auditing how private providers structure their prices and surfacing the costs that appear late in a checkout. He founded Medstack Ltd after finding the UK private weight management market close to impossible to compare honestly. More about the author.

Every guide and provider page carries a visible author line and a last reviewed date so you can see who stands behind it and how current it is. For who owns the content and the comparison dataset, and how we handle copyright and database rights, see legal and data transparency.

What we publish, and what we will not

Ogovy publishes price comparisons, provider information, offer terms and general practical guidance. We are a price information service, not a clinical one.

We do not publish medical advice. We do not tell anyone to start, stop, switch, raise or lower a treatment, and we do not suggest a medicine is suitable for a particular reader. Those decisions belong to a registered prescriber who has assessed you.

We also do not publish before and after imagery, weight loss claims presented as typical outcomes, testimonials implying clinical results, or anything that promotes a prescription-only medicine to the public. UK rules prohibit advertising prescription-only medicines to the public, and we write to stay the right side of that line even where it costs us traffic.

Sourcing standards

  • Prices come from our own tracking: manual checks, direct provider price access and automated scans, always verified by a person before publication. The method is documented in how we track prices.
  • Regulatory facts come from primary sources: the MHRA, the GPhC register, NICE, the NHS and official product information. Where a claim rests on a regulator’s position, we say so.
  • Clinical background is kept general, descriptive and consistent with approved UK product information. We do not extrapolate beyond it.
  • We do not invent ratings or reviews. Ogovy publishes no star ratings, no aggregate scores and no user testimonials for medicines or pharmacies. If a figure is not something we can stand behind, it does not go on the page.

Review and update cycle

Price data is checked continuously, with the freshest data on providers running active offers, and every table carries its own timestamp. Written guides are reviewed when the underlying facts move: an MHRA or NICE decision, a change to product information, a new treatment reaching the UK, or a supply issue affecting availability. Pages also get a routine review even when nothing has changed, and the last reviewed date is updated only when the page has actually been re-read, never automatically to fake freshness.

Corrections

If something here is wrong, we want to fix it rather than defend it. Report an error through the contact page. Price corrections are verified and applied to the live table as soon as they are confirmed. Where a correction materially changes what a page said, we say what changed rather than quietly editing it. Providers are welcome to flag inaccuracies about their own listings and are treated exactly like any other reporter of an error: we check the facts, we do not simply take the amendment on trust.

Independence from commercial pressure

Rankings are determined by the data, never by commercial relationships. No provider can pay for a higher position, a better description, a softer note or inclusion at all, and no provider gets to approve our copy before it publishes. Where links earn commission, that is disclosed. The full position is set out in our independence statement, and the AI systems that read this site can verify the same claims machine-side through our published data feeds.

Use of AI in production

We use software tooling, including AI assistance, for data processing, drafting support and quality checks. Editorial responsibility rests with a named human: nothing publishes without human review, and factual claims about prices, regulators or products are verified against source before they go live. AI is a tool here, not an author.
